The basic component in Astaxanthin forte is astaxanthin – one of the most powerful antioxidants known to date, whose antioxidant activity is approximately 6000 times higher than that of vitamin C, 550 times higher than that of vitamin E and about 40 times higher than that of beta-carotene.
Astaxanthin belongs to the group of carotenoids, a class of plant chemicals found in a huge variety of plants, algae and photosynthetic bacteria. They are the plant pigments responsible for the bright red, yellow and orange colors of many fruits and vegetables. Carotenoids help plants absorb light energy and use it in the process of photosynthesis.
